January Favorites

I’ve never done a post like this before, mostly because I didn’t really have favorite things to show y’all. But this month is different! I actually have a list of things I loved this month and that I wanna share.

Media / Entertainment

Stranger Things. Yes, I’m really behind the ball. But I hadn’t been invested in a tv show for about a year before watching and HOLY SHIT it’s so good. There’s nothing like watching actually good child actors fight evil from the comfort of your bed. It’s not my usual type of tv (I watched Battlestar Galactica and Man in the High Castle, which I would argue deal with some more adult themes) but I’m actually so into it that I watched the entire second season in two days.

Racecraft (Karen & Barbara Fields). I bought this book on a recommendation from a friend and it totally changed the way I thought about race and racism. It’s a dense read–I sometimes had to read sentences a couple of times or read them out loud to fully understand them–but I was super hooked by the first chapter. If anyone else is out there trying to read something woke, Racecraft is my recommendation.

Fage ® Greek Yogurt. Y’all know me. I am a diehard Greek Gods Yogurt fan, but to get that I would have to walk all the way to the Jewel. Fage is cheaper, available at the Whole Foods and does come in a full fat version.

Vital Proteins ® Collagen. One of my goals for the new year was to incorporate collagen more regularly into my diet. Even though I don’t know if I’ve seen results yet, I’m a huge fan of how well Vital Proteins collagen dissolves in my tea. It’s also grass fed, which is a huge bonus.

Cacao nibs. I don’t know why I didn’t pay a lot of attention to cacao nibs before, but they’re pretty awesome. I recently took about a week off added sugar, but I obviously still craved chocolate. Cacao nibs were exactly what I needed.

Other stuff

S’well Bottle. I’m in love and I’m not exaggerating. This S’well 16 ounce traveler has been a lifesaver for me in the mornings now that I have an 8 o’clock math class to get to. I just fill it with hot water from the dining hall, pop in a tea bag (add in my collagen and almond milk) and let it sit! The bottle keeps it legitimately hot for about an hour and pleasantly warm for two hours after that. It also keeps drinks cold, though I use a separate bottle for water.

Leuchtturm 1917. I bit the dust and bought myself an actual bullet journal. And I really like it, so I guess it was worth it.

I hope everyone had an awesome January and I don’t know about y’all, but I’m super looking forward to February because I have a whole new thing going on for the new month (check my insta on Wednesday to see what it is!)
