I am a huge fan of snacking, especially during the winter. I think it has to do with some strong instinct to fatten up before we all get snowed in and we can’t hunt for dark chocolate anymore. Or something like that.
But y’all know the deal: every time I have a craving, I make some sort of recipe. So what I have here is a gluten-free, vegan snack mix perfect for gift giving this holiday season.
I know what you’re thinking: Cam, why the hell would you start thinking about gifts this early in December? And my response is this: I go back to Iowa on December 10, so I HAVE to think about this now if any of my friends here at school are getting anything.
Also, this recipe is so easy that I made it in my dorm lounge with nothing but my hands and a strong determination to break candy canes into small pieces (harder than it looks).
Regardless, I’m excited to kick off this holiday baking season with this four ingredient, super accessible and super delicious snack mix. Happy December y’all!
- 1 cup gluten free pretzels
- ¾ cup roasted, salted almonds
- 3 ounces vegan chocolate, broken into small pieces
- 4-5 candy canes
Break ⅔ of the pretzels into pieces for the aesthetic, then toss everything together in a large bowl! I added some to a small mason jar for gift-giving purposes, but you can do whatever you want with it! I think it would be great as a holiday party snack.
