Daily Menu – 7.13.16

Most of what you guys see on this site is the food I choose to make specifically to blog about. I do sometimes come up with something out of the blue and decide to post it, but I think a lot about what I’m going to post, so most of the recipes I make are tailored to fit that. But that’s not always super fun, and sometimes I make really delicious and pretty food for meals or snacks that I think it would be cool to share with you guys. Daily Menu posts probably won’t be frequent, and they’ll always be posted the next day at noon. But they might be fun for anyone just looking for inspiration, not a set recipe.


My usual for breakfast: some plain greek yogurt and fruit. For the past couple weeks, we’ve been graced with the presence of Missouri Peaches, so I take every chance I can get to eat them. Because plain yogurt isn’t very sweet, adding ripe peaches is the perfect touch, making the yogurt sweeter and have a brighter flavor.


My lunch had two pieces today, a salad and a piece of toast. The salad is a hybrid between my avocado caesar and the kale caesar my dad likes to make. We had some extra dressing lying around, so I used that instead of the egg and used kale, because we had no lettuce. The toast is topped with Nutella, blackberries, strawberries and sliced almonds for a crunchy kick. Both almonds and avocado are very filling, so I chose to make this for lunch knowing I’d want energy for the afternoon.


For dinner, I made a twist on my honey and sriracha chicken. Most of the time that I post a dish, I don’t make it exactly that way ever again, or at least not frequently. The exact amounts and variable ingredients depend on the food we have in the house, what I’m in the mood for and what I can convince my brother to eat. This chicken is one of my favorite dinners, though, because it’s relatively healthy without being unsatisfying. That, and if you’re stuffy nosed, it clears out your sinuses.


We went to the grocery store after dinner, so I picked up a pack of organic peanut butter cups for dessert. I know the picture is dark, but that’s because it was dark outside. When I was younger, I always loved Reese’s peanut butter cups, but now I prefer to have slightly less chemically and unhealthy ones. I was craving some peanut butter, and this definitely did the trick.
